Implementing a new service is one thing but knowing how to read and mine that information into something tangible and useful is a whole different process. We at Xsolla are here once again to highlight the new features and processes included when signing up for our new merchant account.
As a quick example, let’s say you’ve just implemented Xsolla’s payment system for your game and it has been a month since the implementation. What next? The first thing to do is to check your Xsolla Merchant Account because it is the central hub where you as the developer can get information regarding transactions, refunds, location, and much more.
In this instance, by clicking on Reports, you can witness firsthand information such as how many transactions occurred during a set time period, how much each of those transactions went for, which payment system they used, and so on. The Reports tab contains 4 subcategories including: Transactions Registry, Transfers, Reports, and Transaction Search.
Next, we will move onto further coverage of what each subcategory entails.
When you click on Reports, you are automatically connected to the first subcategory tab called Transactions Registry. Within the Transactions Registry, you are first prompted to choose the time period in which you would like to view the information. Once doing so, you can choose specific projects or games that you would like to track or simply click on All Projects to view information across all of your games.
You can use this information that is readily available at your fingertips in a myriad of ways such as when there is a dispute with a paying client, you can instantly search their transaction ID and view all the information necessary to help solve the problem at hand.
Your summary of total transactions is completely transparent meaning all sums are broken down to reflect all applied fees (including Xsolla’s and the Payment System’s fees). Payments will also vary across countries if your game is available in different areas so the different currencies used to pay will also be mapped out clearly within the Transactions Registry.
Within the Transfers subcategory tab, you can keep track of all money transfers (payouts) made within a specific month or year. You can see which transactions were included in each money transfer into your account. Transfers can also be made monthly, weekly, biweekly, or at a predetermined payout sum.
Transfer frequency is completely customizable and can be set to however frequent you, the developer, want it to be. Make sure to discuss this with Xsolla business development manager when signing an agreement.
For example, if a game has weekly transfers, you will see 4 transfers within 1 month. This system is fully tailored to each preference of the developer at their discretion.
The third tab contains monthly reports with transactions occurred during a specified month. All transfers and transactions occurring within a specified month is grouped together so even if there were 4 transfers within the month of May for instance, you will see 1 monthly report.
The currency in which the transfer was made is also mapped out to see which regions were the most active for that month. Monthly reports are important for the financial sector, specifically accountants, to generate monthly financial statements in order to keep track of expenditures. The new Merchant Account can be beneficial for not only the developer, but also different segments of the game company as well.
The final tab, Transaction Search, is used to search for specific transactions given certain parameters that you must set. Time period, Game Project, Payment Type, Phone #, User Details, and Transaction ID are all fields in which you can use to narrow down your search to find that one transaction in mind.
The Transaction Search is a powerful tool that can be put to use by your support team to locate specific information about user payments quickly and on demand. Every analytics needs a search engine to quickly filter through information and the Transaction Search tab is perfect to maintain your statistics.
