Gamescom has come and gone once again leaving both spectators as well as attendees thirsty for more information on the next wave of upcoming releases and connections.
The magic of Gamescom lies in the fact that no matter what you do or where you came from, everyone is there because of their love of games. This stretches across all 10 Halls including business focused indie developers, gamers there to watch the professional CS:GO ESL Tournament, as well as exhibitors such as Nintendo and Xbox providing invaluable experiences for gamers to test out their upcoming franchise titles.
Xsolla had a booth within the B2B section (Hall 4.1) wedged in between powerhouse names such as Riot Games (League of Legends), Unreal, and Wargaming. Passerby’s proved to take advantage of being at Gamescom as droves of game industry connoisseurs stopped by to learn more about the 600+ payment methods we offer as well as to generate individual connections within. The passing of business cards replicated a corporate version of trading Pokemon cards, with developers and industry professionals constantly thirsting for more connections.
New games in development for release in the near future were made playable at Gamescom for those interested… and it’s safe to say that EVERYONE was interested. Lines for games such as Fifa 15, Battlefield Hardline, and Super Smash Bros were constantly out the door with eager enthusiasts. However, the most intriguing games that caught the most attention included the new Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and the remodeled release of Halo: MCC on the Xbox One.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
The latest upcoming addition to the hit franchise, Metal Gear Solid, boasts a ton of unique aspects which really make it a much anticipated release. Most popular to note was Snake’s horse defecating on the road which actually served a practical purpose (to veer the enemy jeep off-road). Snake’s infamous cardboard box received a complete makeover with enemies being enticed into gawking at the beautiful bikini-clad lady drawing as an option to use for Snake’s surprise attacks or getaways.
Bungie brings Halo fans words of rejoice as the new remastered collection coming out titled, Halo: The Master Chief Collection looks to polish the gameplay and aesthetics while also bringing an era of nostalgia by re-releasing their hit titles such as Halo 2. The Halo: MCC comes complete with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and complete with multiplayer modes and add-ons as well. People who purchase this collection will also receive access into the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta session which is always enticing for those enthusiasts.
A Final Word
Gamescom was truly a spectacle to behold for first-time attendees such as myself. It seemed to never end with 10 huge halls full of eager gamers and developers. Xsolla made its presence known at Gamescom with a beautiful booth set up right in the heart of the B2B section. We will be attending and boothing again next year so if you missed meeting us this year, we hope to see you at the next one!
