Interview:

First off, can you tell us a little about your company and the service you provide?

Mobile Solutions is a Mobile Social Network Developer, Content Provider, Content Integrator and Service Provider for mobile industry in Chile and Uruguay, since 2005.

PagoMaxtron is one of the service parts of Mobile Solutions’ payment area. It is a micropayment platform that allows its clients to have access to the closest payment methods in Chile, Colombia and Perú, thus becoming the ideal solution for selling virtual goods and achieving high conversion rates in their payment buttons. Through PagoMaxtron, multiple websites have managed to profit from their operations, allowing them to give their users a payment method that is within their reach. We work in local currency with: stores, credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers, cash coupon, credits cards and Premium SMS.

How popular is your payment system in terms of users and reach?

We process more than 150,000 monthly micropayment transactions in over 100 online games including Facebook games.

What are the benefits to Game Developers for using your payment service?

Screen Shot 2015-01-23 at 4.18.29 PM1. PagoMaxtron is connected to the most successful debit card in Chile which is “cuentaRUT”. Also has cash coupon method available for Colombia and Peru.

2. PagoMaxtron collects the payments in local currency and sends the settlements in US dollars.

3. PagoMaxtron can potentially increase revenue because we receive payments in local currency. Most of the credit/debit cards in Chile, Colombia and Perú cannot process international transactions. It is also very important to remark that for credit cards, we charge the customer in local currency. This is very important because not all the cards are enabled to pay in dollars.

Finally, with PagoMaxtron the game developer has access to multiple payment methods and currencies.

What makes you different from other payment systems? Any unique features?

We offer customization of each payment method. We have a flexible API and fast integration with merchant and marketplaces. Our focus is in innovation. We’re developing an e-wallet with emphasis on the non-bank account user.

How would you describe the Latin American and local market you specialize in?

The Latam market is characterized by:

  • Electronic payment methods increasing, mainly explained by the increase of accessibility to multiple options:
  • Debit Card accessibility increased by the introduction of free debit cards, for example, “cuenta rut” in Chilean case.
  • Credit Card accessibility increased by retail store credit cards.
  • Different cash coupon methods.

In all these cases, new customers are people who don’t qualify for a bank account, but now are able to access these services. There is a big opportunity because these new customers increase the virtual goods market.

Are there any legal/financial barriers or considerations publishers must face before entering your region?

No, the region doesn’t have important barriers. In fact it’s easy to create a new company in Chile. Santiago has a very nice entrepreneurial environment. The Chilean government has an accelerating program called “Startup Chile.” Start-Up Chile is a program created by the Chilean Government, executed by Corfo, that seeks to attract early stage, high-potential entrepreneurs to bootstrap their startups in Chile, using it as a platform to go global. The end goal of the accelerator program is to convert Chile into the definitive innovation and entrepreneurial hub of Latin America; this is a mission shared by the Government of Chile and is a primary focus of the Ministry of Economy.

Also, Chile boasts a very big entrepreneur bureau called Asech which helps entrepreneurs start their businesses.

What is the gaming mentality of local people? How does this mentality influence their payment behavior?

Gamers are looking for friendly and local payment methods in Chile which are recognizable and convenient because the users don´t speak English and also don’t understand the currencies conversion.

What made you choose Xsolla as a partner?

We are working together since April 2014 because Xsolla has an interesting partnership cooperation vision and helps reach a lot of publishers. We are very happy and proud to work with Xsolla because we’ve found very nice and committed people  integrating, testing and supporting the service.
